Loddon Primary School SEND Resource Base Consultation
We are pleased to announce that Loddon Primary School has been successful in its application to host a 21-place Resource Base for Primary School pupils with social communication needs (which may or may not include a diagnosis of autism) and additional associated needs, in a partnership arrangement with Wokingham Borough Council.
Development of this provision is part of Wokingham Borough Council’s SEND Sufficiency Strategy to ensure that more specialist provision is available in the local community for children with SEND. More information on the WBC SEND Sufficiency Strategy is available here.
Subject to stakeholder consultation, the resource base will open in September 2024 to eight pupils from reception to year 3. The resource base will then increase capacity annually until it reaches 21 places by September 2027.
The pupils will benefit from specialist accommodation, within the Silverdale building, created by the refurbishment of the spaces previously designated a Children’s Centre and more recently known as ‘The Nest’ classroom. Dedicated staff members, including a senior lead teacher, will be employed to run the resource base and to support pupils whilst they attend mainstream classes for an average of 50% of their timetable. For the other 50% of their time pupils will be taught within the resource base accessing specialist provision and approaches to support their particular individual needs.
Consultation
Loddon Primary School are now consulting with stakeholders in order to seek their views on our plans to host a SEND Resource Base at Loddon Primary School. We would appreciate your input and feedback.
The consultation will be delivered for a 3 week period starting at 12:00 noon, Tuesday 9th January 2024 and run until 12:00 noon, Tuesday 30th January 2024.
